Outré Hair Salon
branding system & packaging design
2018
personal project
Hair is more than just style—it’s a personal form of self-expression that reflects individuality. Whether bold and colorful, sleek and minimal, or completely unconventional, every person carries a unique identity through their hair. So, I envisioned Outré, a salon that embodies creative energy, eccentricity, and fearless individuality.
To bring this vision to life, I designed a vibrant brand identity that captures the salon’s playful and expressive spirit. The branding features a bold color palette and dynamic patterns inspired by 1970s wallpapers, evoking a sense of nostalgia with a modern twist. For the imagery, I utilized tinfoil—commonly used in hair coloring—to create a shimmering, high-energy background, reinforcing the salon’s lively atmosphere. The product packaging was my favorite portion of this exploration. I wanted the hair products to be eye-catching, bursting with color, and something I wouldn’t ever want to throw away.
All in all, I think this is a great representation of who I am as a designer. There is a sense of chaotic energy, yet, a sense of harmony. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it isn’t a joke.
Logo exploration
Final Logo
product packaging
Outré’s haircare line is designed to be as bold and expressive as its clients, offering a range of products from styling essentials to cleansing treatments. Each product features a distinct pattern and color palette, giving it a unique identity while maintaining a cohesive brand aesthetic.
magazine ads
These vibrant magazine ads are designed to promote Outré’s fun and creative atmosphere in local publications. The color palette adapts based on the featured photography or the season, keeping the brand visually fresh and dynamic.
A key design element is the traveling, waving logo, which adds a playful, modern touch while subtly echoing the movement of flowing hair. This approach ensures that each ad feels lively, expressive, and in tune with Outré’s bold identity.
